Fun at the Sun

International travel open to all, but the ultimate destination may just lie at our doorstep.

Located less than 150 kilometres from central Laudium and just 200 kilometres from OR Tambo International Airport, a short drive may just beat an overseas flight this festive season. With the COVID-19 pandemic still very much on the rise, the risk factor of travelling to a foreign country is just one of the reasons why Sun City should be your destination of travel this year.

Laudium Online were treated to a phenomenal weekend in Sun City just a few days ago and got to experience some of the best adventure sports that the resort has to offer.

Beginning with some flight, we made a trip across the Pilansberg Game Reserve on the fastest Zip Slide on the African continent. With speeds up to 160km/h, zip lining is truly built for the adventure freak and is highly recommended!

Next up, we took advantage of the summer sunshine and took a walk to Waterworld. Situated at the lake in front of the rolling lawns of the Cabanas Hotel, Waterworld provides an array of different activities to choose from. From Jet Ski’s to Cruise Boats, Parasailing and Tube Rides — the list is endless.

Before leaving, quad biking was the call of the day. A personal favourite. After being picked up in a Safari 4X4, we were transferred to the Letsatsing Game Reserve. After a briefing, we rode through nature on high speed Suzuki four-wheelers — in search of adventure and wildlife. With beautiful views, a variety of wildlife and a thrilling driving experience, this was truly an activity to savour!

Apart from the adventure-tainment, Sun City also plays host to a large variety of indoor entertainment. With a designated entertainment centre, guests can visit one of the restaurants, try their hand at some ten-pin bowling or even catch a movie at the cinema. The Soho hotel on the other hand, is built around the resort’s casino — one of the country’s best.

So, yes, international travel may be open, but with the best adventure destination right here on our doorstep, with all necessary protocols in place, why not opt for a trip to the valley instead?
