Say ''hello'' to your new favourite dinner roll! The "dinner roll" that can be eaten all day long... This is a winning recipe, my go-to roll recipe on any occasion.

Honestly speaking I always shied away from making rolls, to afraid it might turn out to be weapons of mass destruction...LoL  But while living in the Eastern Cape my dear friend Wasiefah Martin introduced me to this over indulging, soft, light & a new family favourite. You simply have to give this a go!

Ingredients

4 Cups Flour Sifted

4 Tbs Sugar

1 Tsp Salt

1 Pkt Yeast

1 Cup Boiled Water

1 Cup Milk

3 Tbs Melted Butter

1 Large Egg

1 Tbs Mayo
10
Half Cup Melted Butter (For brushing after baked)

Method

In a large bowl combine all the dry ingredients

Using a jug add boiled water, milk, melted butter, egg & mayo

Whisk together well & gradually add to dry ingredients bit by bit. Until a slightly sticky & soft dough is formed. *all the liquid may not be required, add as you go along mixing

Don't stress if the dough is to sticky, just oil your hands & bring it together in a big ball. P.S the softer the dough the yummier the roll

Knead with love for 5 mins

And once you've stopped stressing & made that ball, place it into a lightly oil dish

Cover & allow to raise, preferably placed in a warm area for 1 hour

Once raised then proceed with oiled hands making golf ball sized portions

Place onto a lightly greased baking sheet or pyrex dish 1 finger spacing or none, your preference

Patiently allow them to raise for another 15 mins

Finally pop them into a pre heated oven @ 170*C for 20-25 mins until golden delicious

Immediatley after exiting the oven, brush with melted butter. Admire them for 5 mins while that butter seeps in... Then devour it!

Chef's note

Dough Tip

Do not be tempted to add extra flour when dough appears to be to sticky, calmly oil your hands & keeping rolling LoL

 

Brushing Tip

Uhm so here's the thang, I like seriously love garlic & very often added freshly chopped garlic into the melted butter with some salt

Fresh herbs like parsley or dhania may be added too

A sprinkling of seeds may be added just before baking
